About EWB-MAP
Our Vision and MissionOur vision is a world in which the communities we serve have the capacity to sustainably meet their basic human needs, and that our members have enriched global perspectives through the innovative professional educational opportunities that the EWB-USA program provides. EWB-USA supports community-driven development programs worldwide by collaborating with local partners to design and implement sustainable engineering projects, while creating transformative experiences and responsible leaders.

Supporting EWB Student ChaptersProviding professional chapter members as a resource for technical mentoring of the local student chapters (Delaware, Drexel, UPenn, Rowan, Temple, Villanova, Widener) , and also helping to facilitate development/leadership of those student chapters. Collaboration with Local Environmental OrganizationsEWB-MAP frequently collaborates with Philadelphia-based organizations Fairmount Water Works Interpretive Center (FWWIC) and Philadelphia Global Water Initiative (PGWI). FWWIC, home to Philadelphia's second municipal waterworks facility (in operation from 1812-1909), is now a hands-on science and environmental educational center created by the Philadelphia Water Department. The FWWIC offers interactive exhibits, lectures, events, and school programs to aid in the understanding of the waterworks' purpose/history and local watershed importance. PGWI is a group of individuals and organization representatives committed to meeting the UN Millennium Development Goals for water and sanitation. Through its project work, EWB-MAP will support the goals of PGWI and help empower developing communities to initiate sustainable engineering projects that will improve the quality of life for current and future generations. Community Outreach Initiatives in the Greater Philadelphia regionLocally, EWB-MAP's main presence in our home community involves volunteer service projects designed to promote sustainability and remove urban blight. Through frequent collaborations with service organizations such as Greater Philadelphia Cares and Ray of Hope, EWB-MAP volunteers alongside residents to beautify neighborhoods and clean up parks throughout the city.
